Acne patches are everywhere and honestly, with my hormonal acne acting up just around my period, I decided to try the Mighty Patch Invisible+ pimple patch.

The first reason, ofcourse, was that I refused to show up to work with a pus filled acne staring my coworkers in the face. Also it didn’t help that I kept poking the pimple and applying copious amounts of medication to it. The skin around the acne now was extremely dry and starting to peel and I wanted to cover that up.  It’s been a few months since then. And I can honestly say that the Mighty Patch is not the best acne treatment out there.

On researching further, I found that hydrocolloid is a polymer and when mixed with water, it forms a gel that can be applied to wounds to help them heal faster. It is a moisture retentive, protective gel that promotes healing and protects new tissue and is used extensively to treat burns, ulcers and sores. When using it for acne, it also works best for open pimples.

Benefits of using the Mighty Pimple patch

Let’s talk about the benefits of using an acne patch first. If you tend to poke and touch your pimple, you should go out and get one of these immediately. Covering up your pimple with a patch works and you do end up not aggravating it further by continuously touching it.  It also helps with  keeping the area clean and absorbing the pimple gunk. If your pimple is extremely painful and cystic in nature, you will have to keep changing your patch every 3-4 hours. 

Does it help heal your acne faster? 

I don't think so. I have used these patches for my breakouts consistently after that incident. If the pimple is just beneath your skin and the head hasn’t formed yet, the patch does not help. There are other patches in the market that are not hydrocolloid patches which help with treating closed pimples. If the head has formed, covering it with the patch does not accelerate the drying process. It does however protect it from dust and germs. And prevents the bacteria from spreading to other parts of your face. It absorbs the gunk and stops your pimple from looking too inflamed. Also the size of the patch isn’t adequate and does not stick well to the skin if your zit is a bit too big.

If I want my acne to heal faster, I would prefer using other acne treatments out there which work better for me than the hydrocolloid patch. However, I prefer using these patches when I am heading out to work or meeting people. I like the protection it provides against germs and dust and stops me from feeling too self conscious. It does mention the patches are invisible but that's not entirely true. If someone is not staring or looking at you intently, the chances of them noticing the patch on your face is however, definitely minimal.

As far as blemishes are concerned, I haven't seen a significant impact of these patches on the scar. I use actives recommended by my dermatologist to help with blemishes and scars.

If you are suffering from consistent acne, using these patches is no substitute for a proper acne treatment. You need to talk to a dermatologist and build a proper acne treatment plan to deal with hormonal acne, rosacea etc. However, if you get the occasional zit once in a while, these patches will help hide them and protect the pimple from getting aggravated. 

Will I recommend it to people dealing with severe acne? No.

Will I recommend it to people dealing with the occasional zit and whitehead? Yes!

Will I continue using them to hide my zits when I am feeling too self conscious? Absolutely!

Raving reviews, the unmatched excellence of Korean skincare and social media skincare reels popping up every few seconds on my feed finally convinced me to try this product that has achieved a cult-like status. 

So I did what any normal girl would do. I went and bought myself a whole bottle of the CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. I have sensitive oily skin and I argued if the product doesn't work on my skin, I can always pass it on to my husband. His skin is extremely resilient and I am yet to find a product that breaks him out.

Snail mucin is itself packed with proteins (collagen and elastin), hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants and glycolic acid. If the product really promises to do what it does, I think my search for the ultimate skin weapon is at an end.

Skincare Routine with The CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

I incorporated the cosrx snail mucin into my nighttime skincare routine first. I have been using retinol for a while now, but it always leaves my skin feeling dry and parched. After cleansing my face, I pumped out a drop of the snail mucin and applied it to my damp skin. The product was almost instantly absorbed and my skin looked so much more hydrated. I followed it up with a pea-sized amount of retinol. 

I was expecting some initial reaction to the product as my skin is extremely sensitive and oily. But I was surprised to see no breakouts even after two whole weeks. I have also started using snail mucin in the morning. I apply it to my damp skin after cleansing and follow it up with an active(sometimes), moisturiser and sunscreen. And my skin has never felt so good. I enjoy lathering my entire face with the cosrx advanced snail mucin and have finished half the bottle in two months.

On days I do not use snail mucin, my skin looks a lot less hydrated. I love how my skin instantly feels softer, hydrated and smoother post using the serum. I have had no breakouts, the acne spots are healing a lot faster than before and my skin looks plumper and fresh. The product is extremely gentle and has even helped with healing my skin barrier. I do get hormonal cystic acne around my period but that is a topic for another blog. 

But if I stop using the product for a couple of days, my skin reverts to looking like it did before. If the product really suits you, the CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is a must have in your skincare routine. Honestly, it does feel like a miracle product and I wouldn't be exaggerating if I say, I am obsessed with it!
